Safe use of Abrasive Wheels
Course Duration Half Day including practical element
Who will Benefit

Anyone who has to change and use abrasive wheels, any supervisors/managers overseeing this operation

Legislative Requirement Regulation 9 (1) of the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998
Aims of Training

The aim of the course is to train selected people in the knowledge needed to achieve the standard of competence to carry out the process of cutting materials safely

Training Objectives

To ensure delegates are able to:

  • Dress abrasive wheels – where appropriate
  • Check whether discs or wheels are safe to mount
  • Carry out a ring test – where appropriate
  • Mount abrasive wheels
  • Understand the need for safe handling and storage
  • Select the correct PPE
  • Demonstrate safe handling

Maximum Number of Delegates 10 number
Resource Required Client to provide:
  • Machines and a selection of the discs/wheels that are used
  • Training room to comfortably accommodate all the delegates with 240V power supply for the theory component of the course
Trainer to provide:
  • Training Equipment (course notes and presentation pack)
